How to sort
For example all kinds of cans from the household, alimunum foil, candle canisters, jar covers, furniture - partly or completely made out of metals.
Note
Food containers such as cans must be cleaned before disposal.
Where to bring it
Smaller loads: The nearest recycling centre (max 2 m3).
Bigger loads: It's recommended that bigger loads are brought to scrap metal firms.
The recycling
Metals brought to SORPA are sent to the scrap metal firms Fura ehf. in Hafnarfjörður and Hringrás ehf. in Reykjavík where the metals go through further sorting before exported abroad for recycling.
